BLIGH PRIMARY SCHOOL

Governing body

 Katherine Bonner, Parent Governor

I am a secondary school teacher and mum to two children currently attending Bligh Primary School.  I became a teacher and, more recently, a governor because I wanted to make a difference in children's lives; all children should expect and receive the best education possible, regardless of class, race or gender.  It is important that we have high expectations of our children - then they can have high expectations of themselves.

 James Jefferson, Parent Governor,

and Vice Chair of Governors

I moved to Strood in 2015 with my family. My two children both go to Bligh.  I believe it’s a very exciting time for the school with new changes and challenges ahead. With the support of the parents and carers there are no limits on what can be achieved.

Julie Lindsay, Governor appointed by the Trust

I am an Assistant Principal in a local secondary school. In my role I monitor and develop teaching and learning and I have responsibilities for safeguarding children, I also teach Science. I became a governor at Bligh as I wanted to work with the school to support the outcomes of all students. I want to share my knowledge and support where I can as I believe that all students have the ability to achieve when expectations and aspirations are high from staff, students, teachers and governors.

Christian Markham, Head of School

I have worked in the education sector for over 18 years. I started my career as a geography teacher and moved into primary education in 2016. This is my third headship. I have held many senior roles and have been a part of a large academy chain where I held both regional and executive head teacher positions.

Sophie Martin, Staff Governor

I am now in my fourth year at Bligh and am currently teaching Year 6. Being a staff governor and a teacher enables me to consider how decisions made will affect the children's well-being and education, as I see this first-hand on a daily basis. I am passionate about making positive changes to our school that will give our children the best opportunities possible.

Kathy Moon, Governor appointed by the Trust, and Chair of Governors

I am the chair of the Local Governing Board. I have been Head of Science and I am now the Director of Research and Careers Lead at Rainham School for Girls. I joined the governing board of Barnsole and subsequently moved to Bligh because I want our children to have the highest aspirations, the confidence and the skills to not only fulfil their potential, but to excel whatever their goals. I consider it a privilege to be part of their journey.
